Symptoms and solutions

Three common faults to check first

Each entry lists a typical symptom, the checks to run, and the components most often worn in that system.

Hydraulics

Loss of hydraulic power

Slow or weak movement often points to low fluid, a clogged filter, or worn pump seals. Check fluid level and filter condition, then inspect seals and hoses for leaks before replacing parts.

Drive tracks

Track tension problems

Loose or uneven tracks can come from tensioner wear or a worn idler. Measure track sag against the service spec, check the tensioner for leaks, and inspect rollers and idlers for wear.

Electrical

Starter will not engage

A clicking or dead starter usually traces to battery condition, loose terminals, or a worn starter solenoid. Clean and tighten connections, test battery charge, then inspect the starter before ordering a replacement.
